New year; old project...

Way back in January 2012 I introduced a new monthly challenge. Mr. Word Bird. Unfortunately like all best laid plans he fell by the wayside after 4 months.
Until now.
Generally January fills me with the gumption to complete any unfinished objects or UFOs as they are known. And so with my renewed crafty enthusiasm I caught up with 8 months of Word Birdieness in two days.

 January

 February

 March

 April

 May

 June

 July

 August

 September

 October

 November

December

They are all now framed and hung in my living room reminding me that it is always satisfying to complete a project.
I have another challenge up my sleeve for this year but you'll have to wait a while for the grand unveiling as I haven't started it yet!
Until next time.

Welcome back Mr. Word Bird...

Mr. Word Bird is swooping by a day later than planned but also highly appropriate considering the date.

This month Mr. Word Bird's theme is love. Each month I will be attempting to tie him into a word which is relevant to the month we are in. If you would like to join in you can find more about him here along with a template for you to download.

This month Mr. Word Bird was created with scraps from my ever expanding bit box, the bits include some 'Love, Elsie' fabric paper, vintage dictionary pages, a playing card, hand embroidery, a stamped brad and a generous blob of gesso.

I do hope you will play along, he is feeling a little lonesome at the moment so if you manage to create your own version, leave me a comment and I'll swoop by and have a look.

I hope you have a day filled with loveliness and I'll *see* you again soon.

Mr. Word Bird says...

Hello!
Welcome back, you need to read quietly as I'm tentatively introducing a new friend to you and he may frighten easily.
Welcome to... Mr. Word Bird.
Each month on roughly the third Monday Mr. Word Bird shall be fluttering by offering a new word of inspiration to this blog and to any of you who wish to join in.

This months word is 'Hello'. Appropriate as it is the first time he has dropped by.

Mr. Word Bird is my own creation stemming from many doodles created whilst I waited for a meeting at work to begin. I decided that in 2012 I wanted to create more 'messy' artwork but something that still had a theme running through it and had a [semi] graphic style. The doodles were worked into, modified and eventually fine tuned in Corel Draw before being transferred to my Craft Robo.
I'd be really pleased if you would like to create your own 'word birds' and I have uploaded his template for you here. Maybe we can have a 'Word Bird' family. If you do make your own leave me a comment with a link and I'll swoop by and check them out.

This months 'Hello Mr.Word Bird' was created with book pages, a postage stamp from a recent Christmas card envelope and illustrations from a Jackanory story book along with plenty of white acrylic paint and some shimmer sprays kindly given to me by TinkerTaylor.
I do hope Mr. Word Bird will take flight... in fact he has already tweeted next months inspiration in my ear...
